The agile #SUNGUR of the battlefields!

The test firing of SUNGUR, the effective power of our air defense with its asymmetric warfare capability, was successfully carried out and hit its target with full accuracy!

Sungur and Levent missiles are the two very important components of our short range point defence missile systems.
Sungur, as well as being man portable, also is pedestal mounted on armoured vehicles for short range point defence.
It has a Dual thrust (booster+sustainer) solid rocket engine that propels it to above 2.2 Mach. With an IIR seeker, it is a very precise and effective defence weapon. It is a 70mm diameter 147cm long missile and does not rotate around its axis like stinger. At its given 8km range and 4km operational altitude it is much deadlier than the Stinger missile it is replacing thanks to it’s high end seeker
Levent missile is a larger version of the Sungur missile with a 128mm diameter. Also as can be seen from the below picture it is much longer than the Sungur. All this points to a much higher operational altitude and more than the 11+km expected range quoted by Roketsan.
There seems to be a cloud of secrecy about the development of this new missile. But if and when it becomes operational it will definitely be a game changer weapon.

Both missiles are very much capable to be effective from Sea, Ground and Air platforms. This would make them extremely versatile weapons.

Personally I can’t wait to see the tests of Levent missile from land and especially sea platforms as a replacement of our US/German built RAM point defence systems.

Roketsan Chief Mr İkinci had promised to put Levent system on the table within 3 years, nearly 2.5 years ago. So now, it is only normal for us to expect it before the end of this year.

These two missiles will be incredible assets for our manned systems, whether UGVs, USVS or even UAVs. We can create unmanned point defence systems to accompany our forces with ease.

SUNGUR missile is very important as it is MANPADS but i can't understand why to be created new design Levent line of sight missiles ?
The dimensions of Levent are almost as same as Bozdoğan on the other hand Levent is not as compact as RIM-116.

And both Levent and rim-116 can't be preprogrammed before launch however Bozdoğans flight path could be preseted before launch. Also current first block Bozdoğan without datalink should cost very reasonable rather than Levent.

This microwave seekers of Levent are vital? İ doubt. I would prefer GÖKSUR launcher with current Bozdoğan B1 rather than Levent .
If microwave seekers are vital, then they could add MW seekers to Bozdoğan.

I also find SUNGUR useless for navy.

35mm Göker with Göksur launcher is the best naval point defense systems.

How could you destroy TB-2 UAVs flying at 7000m altitude from Levent or Sungur? Or little Quadrocopters?
Against TB-2 and cruise missiles you need Bozdoğan loaded Göksur launcher at 4 corner .
Against swarm attack of Quadrocopters you would also need auto cannon with smart ammunition.

İf Canik upgrades VENOM LR with 30x113 smart ammunition, the light and compact gun will be popular in navy. Remember that Venom LR has 1500 round rate of fire and imagine as if every shot were programmed.
