The strategic course of Ukraine is to receive NATO membership and achieve interoperability of the Armed Forces with the relevant structures of member states as soon as possible.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky stated this in a speech during the opening of the Rapid Trident 2020 military exercise in Lviv region, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.
The President stressed that Ukraine should achieve interoperability of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with the relevant structures of the Alliance as soon as possible.
Zelensky also stressed the importance of enhancing reforms that will allow Ukraine to receive invitations and join the NATO Membership Action Plan.
As Ukrinform reported, President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Lviv region for an official visit on Thursday.
On September 14, President Zelensky signed a decree enacting the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) decision of September 14, 2020 "On the National Security Strategy of Ukraine."

How big and influential is the Ukranian diaspora in Canada?

They are very significant in the prairies ...so from western ontario up to about the rockies they are quite politically and economically strong....and thus elect quite a number of seats to parliament one can say as they are enough of a swing vote or even plurality in lot of areas there.

I don't think any other country (outside Ukraine) enjoys such a prevalence of Ukrainians in political matters and population % as Canada does....with maybe exception of Russia itself.

Rest of Canada they also have quite a presence in some areas too. Canada is very pro-Ukraine on most if not all matters one can say (especially once its democratic credentials have been set up and made more robust over time).

...quite multipartisan too (left, centre and right all support Ukraine against Russia in recent years...

Stephen Harper our previous (conservative party) PM even famously said to Putin "I guess I'll shake your hand but I have only one thing to say to you: You need to get out of Ukraine." ...his political career originated in prairies too, so he knew those ukrainian canadians in very down to earth way early on.

I have had long extended conversations with Ukrainian-Canadians about what they think of Putin/Russian aggression/war with them and annexing of Crimea. They are overall really angry and want Russia taught a lesson somehow someway...lets put it that way...and it is putting it mildly.

I can confidently say Ukraine will likely find Canada the keenest partner in NATO to help its military training and familiarisation.
