I was reading somewhere DRDO already develops SDRs.
Is there any particular reason why they bought it from Elbit system instead of indeginous solution?

If there is qualitative transfer of technology on it past what DRDO has accomplished....then it makes sense.

India has to further rationalise and prioritise its RnD at least 5 times more intensely than what it does now to push through a number of things vertically....so where Israel aids in this effort so India can have impetus to specifically concentrate far more on number of specific things it will not have access to from any other.... is welcome thing.
